Sakara Meal Delivery Service: Wedding Wednesday

Sakara Meal Delivery Service: Wedding Wednesday

A few days ago officially marks the 6 months Taylor and I have until our wedding day! Even though we still have quite a few months before I want to officially kick into "wedding body" mode, I am ready to start testing out options that will make getting down the isle in that white dress a little easier.

SAKARA is an organic meal delivery program based on a plant-rich, gluten-free, superfood diet. One of the things that drew me to this particular food delivery service is how easy it was to see what the menu looked like and the countless options to customize. I also liked that in the future if I just want to have just lunch or just dinner delivered that option is available.

Here are my thoughts...

Day One:

PRE-BREAKFAST- Detox Water with Rose.

Yay or Nay?

NAY! This was not a good way to start...I don't like the smell of Rose in general and this tasted like I was drinking straight up rose perfume. I drank it all just so I could say I did but...big no thanks for me.

BREAKFAST- "Yoga Bunny Breakfast", quinoa flour + carrot muffin & side raspberries.

Yay or Nay?

Yay! I was craving carrot cake around Easter so this was a welcome little surprise. I opted to heat it up and I felt like I was starting the day with dessert. Very good- would be happy to have it again.

POST-BREAKFAST- Detox Tea.

Yay or Nay?

YAY! I LOOOVEEE this tea! I am a big fan of Red Rooibos tea in general but this one with the addition of lemon-grass was over the moon delish. You get to have this twice a day

LUNCH- Celery Root Steak Burger with Buffalo Cauliflower.

Yay or Nay?

Yay-ish?? This was one of those things I think I liked because I am pretty used to the taste of healthy food...if that makes any sense. It was very filling and I loved the side salad. Was this the best thing in the world, no...but was it good enough that I ate all of it without blinking, yes.

DINNER- Sichuan Noodles with Sesame-Roasted Carrots.

Yay or Nay?

Yay-ish?? I really liked the spicy peanut butter dressing that I mixed in with the noodles but the bulk of greens that I mixed in was no-bueno. I ended up picking around the soggy greens but did really like the sesame-roasted carrots. Also, the portions are HUGE.

POST-DINNER- Detox Water with Chlorophyll

Yay or Nay?

Yay! I love the Chlorophyll water at Kreation here in LA and this tasted just like that. It was very refreshing and a nice way to end the day...meanwhile Taylor was eating a giant bowl of popcorn... this helped me resist!

End of the day I felt...

Honestly?...not great. I was having major caffeine withdrawals which came with a pounding headache and made me a bit of a grouch. I also was reallllyyy hungry, which was weird because I felt like all I did all day was eat. Hoping for a better Day #2

Day 2:

BREAKFAST- Cinnamon Apple Parfait

Yay or Nay?

Nay. Honestly the taste was pretty good and it was very very filling but I felt SO sick after I ate this.

LUNCH- The Bliss Bowl

Yay or Nay?

Yay. This was really refreshing. I'm really loving the amount of salad that keeps showing up and the quality is so nice also the avocado covered in seeds= yum. Something interesting about this was the addition of stinging nettle which kind of made everything seem a little tingly, very different but good.

DINNER- Beet Rawvioli with Toasted Broccolini.

Yay or Nay?

Yay. I really did not expect to like this...I don't think I've ever even eaten beets before. It definitely felt very healthy. Taylor wasn't a fan but It was very filling and surprised me.

Day 3:

BREAKFAST- Breezy Berry Scone w/ Homemade Apple Butter.

Yay or Nay?

Nay. I found this to be the first of any of the food that was really bland. I still ate half and found it to be very filling. Not my favorite, but not a deal breaker. The apple butter was quite special.

LUNCH- The Sakara Nicoise.

Yay or Nay?

Yay. I loved this salad. I actually really loved all the salad based meals, I couldn't get over how fresh they tasted. They made a magical cashew-macadamia "egg" that was beyond delish. I should mention that I did remove almost half of the toppings like the capers, olives and radishes- just not how I roll.

DINNER- Maple Sweet Potato Bowl with Spicy Chickpeas.

Yay or Nay?

Yay. I really, really loved this warm, spicy dinner for my last meal of this cycle. Something I noticed throughout the meals was how all the veggies were bursting with flavor and just fell apart in your mouth. The sweetness of the maple sweet potatoes mixed with the spiciness of the chickpeas was everything I wanted and more! Again, the portions were more than filling- no late night snacking needed.

Final Thoughts

I'm really impressed. I have been burned in the past from expensive meal delivery services but I really feel like Sakara was a great fit for me. The process from start to finish is so simple and the delivery is efficient and fresh. I am currently on day 1 of my next cycle and plan to incorporate the service into my weekly routine. A 3 day cycle of meals = $239 , a 5 day cycle of meals = $349.
