My 25th Year In Review

My 25th Year In Review

Today is my Birthday!

I started calling year 25 “My Swan Year” because I wanted to become more graceful in my actions and thoughts, embrace my inner confidence and appreciate the beauty in my everyday life. Where I think I will be working on these practices the rest of my life I am happy to start year 26 with these building blocks already in place.

What I've Learned...

Compete With Yourself- I want to be better than I was yesterday in a very literally sense. I keep track of my moods, actions, habits and look at them objectively to see where more focus is needed for improvement. Where there is a central cord that makes me who I am I want to be in a constant state of evolution.

Let People Surprise You-  I’m incredibly observant and that means I can quickly form opinions on people and calculate their next move. This has served me well, especially in Los Angeles, but it can get in the way of more personal relationships I have with friends and family. This year, time and time again people in my life have completely surprised me and let me see them in a completely different light. Allowing people to change your perception of them is actually quite thrilling.

Don’t Apologize For Your Happiness- I have a blessed life and in my early 20s I found myself almost feeling ashamed of that. I would down play my happiness and dig up things from the past I had already laid to bed. I have realized that my life comes across as charmed because that is how I choose to see it & being grateful is nothing to be ashamed of.

You Are Worth Being Listened To- Being the baby of the family, I grew up mostly around adults. Where this did make me more mature it almost did the opposite of making me feel like an adult because my siblings were in such a more adult part of their life . This year I saw ideas and plans I had take on a bigger life than I ever imagined. I am reassured I can trust my instincts and that I can hang with the big boys any day of the week.

Beauty Is Being Kind- Being kind to your body by eating good food, being kind to your mind by continuing to learn and being kind to your soul by appreciating other people.
